BRO. MANGOLD, THIS IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL POEM. IT TOUCHED MY HEART MORE THAN WORDS CAN SAY. I AM BRYCES GAMMIE. HE WILL BE MISSED MORE THAN ANYONE KNOWS. THE PAIN IS HEAVY IN OUR HEARTS AND THE TEARS FLOW LIKE A RIVER. BUT WE ALL KNOW GOD IS GIVING US THE STRENGTH TO GET THROUGH EACH DAY. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR PRAYERS, LOVE AND SUPPORT.

Sis. Cheryl, I’m so pleased you were able to get a chance to read it. I so wanted to comfort the family, and in some way, I hoped the poem would do that. You and the family will continue to be in our prayers. If there’s something we can do, please don’t hesitate to ask. We love you.

    Bro. Roger,
Yes, this is truly inspired by our Lord, from His heart to your hand. During this sad time I could not find the inspiration to write as I usually do, so I am so moved that God inspired someone else. He truly knows our every need. Thank you so much for your kind words, love and support. ( I am Cheryl and Cindys’ sis., one of the older set of twins)

A child’s funeral, nothing anyone expects or ever wants to experience.

Tonight, a very sad night, hard to put into words as I passed the family and casket of a 7 year old freckle faced little boy. I hugged the mother, someone I more normally would see under fun theater activities, what do you say, what can you say. She sat staring, smiling politely when people approached to comfort her. Is there any comfort? Certainly from nothing or anybody but God. The father standing simply because his wife could not. Standing to be the strength of the family, yet clearly struck down and devastated. I watched as his two beautiful sisters standing close, quiet, in tears. Wishing it were all a bad dream. Probably thinking back to the little brother who they told to go away, or maybe teased in loving family fun just days prior. Wishing for just one more hug, one my tease, one more board game.

It came to me as I passed all the pictures, some enlarged and framed some clipped, decorated, laced with stickers and carefully placed on bulletin boards to show the guests, family, friends. A slide show on two big screens showing the brief life of a brother, grandson, nephew, a parents baby.

One could never expect or foresee it coming. Innocently playing, with what seemed at the time to be a fun toy a game. Golf clubs, an everyday item, in every basement, closet and garage. Who knew?

So many pictures as I walked along the memorial set up. An endless row of pictures and scrapbooks. Memories. To my astonishment, many of the pictures there I myself had taken, breaking my heart as I remembered calling “Bryce” so he’d turn his head and I’d click a shot. He’d give that half grin knowing he’d been caught off guard. Caught on camera, a simple image. How important are those memories? Those snapshots? I know now….Priceless.

Take the time, hug your child, tell them you love them, tuck them in, tell them your proud of them, kiss their cheek, soak them up, take a walk, call their name, take a picture, and make memories! The McVety Family have many memories and Bryce will be forever in their home, minds and hearts as well as anyone who met him.

Goodbye Bryce, you will be missed.
