Fasting Resources
I have been thoroughly researching the topic of fasting on the web and have found a few resources that may help those during the challenges that fasting presents.
Your Personal Guide to Prayer and Fasting
-
Rev. Bill Bright who passed away in 2003, left behind an exhaustive online resource for those who are observing a Christian fast. Here is the Link - http://www.billbright.com/howtofast/.
I found this website very informative because it covered the entire gammut of fasting. From the reasons to fast, challenges during a fast, to coming off the fast, here you’ll find exactly what you are looking for to maintain the right frame of mind and right heart during your fast.
The Daniel Fast
-
The Daniel Fast is based on the observance of Daniel’s Fast in the book that bears his namesake. You can find the blog devoted to this fast with inexhaustible resources on fasting HERE or the link is http://danielfast.wordpress.com/.
-
There is a specific article I want to direct you to that shows how critical fasting was to a member of the Colorado Springs Church that helped prevent more bloodshed during the violent shooting. Find the article HERE or the link http://danielfast.wordpress.com/2008/01/09/a-good-report-about-the-supernatural-benefits-of-fasting/
-
As I’ve stated in other entries, this will be a fast I intend to further research and go on throughout the remainder of this year…Lord willing. I’ll be using this weblog as a resource.
Benefits of Fasting
-
Medical pundits have always been strong proponents of fasts. Here Alan Goldhamer, D.C., points out medical successes that can be directly attributed to fasting. Find it HERE or http://www.healthpromoting.com/Articles/articles/benefit.htm
-
As if the spiritual benefits weren’t enough, here is a well written web article written by Will Carroll, detailing some of the positive physical effects of fasting, that I found intriguing. Find the article HERE or http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/biology/b103/f02/web1/wcarroll.html
Where’s Pastor Mangold Been?
For those that frequent our blog/website (100/day average), you’re probably wondering why there hasn’t been more new items posted lately. To be perfectly honest, with the fast GAC is on (21-days), my writing and creative energy has been primarily devoted to chronicling my thoughts and feelings on my Mangold Family Blog.
So, it’s not that I’m neglecting our church blog as much as I did not want to overwhelm http://www.gracenewsinfo.com/ with a lot of my personal banter.
Happy Fasting!
Pastor RDM
