Homeless Outreach Effort at Grace Gets a Boost from David Clary Ministries
I would like to honor Bro Clary and his family for the burden that the Lord has given him for this region. Many of you may not know this but the Lord has Blessed the Outreach / homeless ministry in a great way. Bro Clary led the effort to come up with the HOPE Detroit project which he has established as a way of offering Hope to this region. With the monies that have been donated from Churches and individuals outside of this region he has purchased 240 backpacks along with blankets, thermal socks, hats and gloves. He has also purchased Bibles and we have assembled all of the backpacks and have included our Church information.
Our burden for this ministry really started in the early summer of 2005. After prayer meetings my wife Karen and I would go down to Royal Oak, MI which is a suburb of Detroit and we would pass out Church cards, tracts, etc… We noticed that there was quite a diversity of people in this suburb. We also noticed there were quite a few homeless people in the area. One night as we were ready to head home my wife said let’s go, I said let’s talk to one more person. Right then we met Richard a 55 year old homeless man, we talked with him and invited him to our Church and he has been coming ever since.
Additionally we have been blessed to have had in our services sometimes up to 8-10 people at a time. We have Baptized 5 individuals 3 of which have received the Holy Ghost. Lives are being changed. We have had some disappointments however our best days are ahead of us.
We have a wonderful outreach team that works so well together with this ministry. First we have a great Church led by Pastor Stephen Trachsel who is an annointed preacher with a contagious enthusiasm for souls. We also have an Outreach Director Bro Sam Wojciechowski and his Wife Sis Kris who are true servants of the Lord. I also would like to honor Bro David and Sis Patricia Moore. This couple started coming to our Church at a time when we really started expanding this outreach. We could not have accomplished what we have done with out the help of this couple. They are such a blessing in many, many ways. I pray that the Lord blesses them for there efforts. We also have a rotating family that prepares and cooks food each week after the Sunday service for our homeless friends.
I would like to thank each of you for supporting the Homeless ministry along with praying for the new people that have recently made a commitment to Christ. We believe that lives will be impacted in an eternal way. Thank you Bro & Sis Clary for following thru on the vision that the Lord has given you. We will never forget the message you preached at Grace Apostolic Church. The message was titled “Strategically placed by God”. I personally believe that is a message that the Body of Christ should hear. Matter of fact starting this week we will start to pass out some of the backpacks to individuals staying in local shelters.
